Assembled during quarantine, this mix was originally intended to lift spirits during lockdown. In light of recent events, however, we're here in hopes the music can still bring some brightness back to your week, to inspire some semblance of hope and happier moments.
These are globe-trotting, groove-inflected tunes from bygone eras and more than 11 countries; a double dose of psychedelic and soulful funk numbers to keep you on your feet, plus a few tangents to keep things fresh, feeling fine, if only for a little while. Things soon simmer to a selection of calmer songs to give pause and time to reflect.
These are tracks to transport you; to enjoy the little things in life while we can, when we can, or to look forward to, while under duress and in protest. We dug deep on this one and hope it takes you far, far out. Out in the streets, out in the country, with a clear state of mind and love in your heart.
Dedicated to victims of racial violence and police brutality, as well as those who fight for them. Incorporates an image of George Floyd and speech excerpt courtesy of Stephen Jackson Sr. Please, donate today.
